..rather than crutches

We are not meant to be each other’s crutches Luv
we are meant to be each other’s rocket engines
I will catch you if you fall but do not rely just on me
stand up on your own two feet first

Our role is not to keep each other from falling
our role is to improve and empower each other
to draw our best traits from our abyss into the Light
and, if we are lucky and blessed enough
we might even, who knows…
lift each other all the way to the Stars

You know what I’m talking about
that future dream, that intimate wish we both share

It might just be in our heads
it might just be the work of our imagination

Or, more likely, as you once told me
‘Icarus would not have burned his wings
if he had flown along with his mate Daedalus
it was not pride that burned him out;
it was his broken heart, his guilt for flying alone
