Poem for Whoever
A love letter to every Muse
I love you from the depths of my laptop case
I love you in the poems I write and dream
I love that you fill me with poetic grace
though you still bring me no revenue stream
Dream, oh you can never dream
of what I write when you’re in bed
when you’re asleep around I sneak
write all the poems dancing in my head
Oh Anna, oh Vicky, oh Angela, oh Debby
I wrote so many poems about you
I forget your names
I forget your names…
Barbara, Martha, Alice, Yuki and Susan too
are these really your names?
I love you from the depths of my laptop case
I love your faces, hair and scents
Which, alas, I’ve also started to forget
I love to write about your strengths and flaws
I’ll love you till my laptop has no keys
Deep, so deep; the No1 poem I hope this will be
that depends on how much you weep,
so cry my love cry, cry some more still
Oh Mary, oh Valentina, oh Goldie, oh Kate
you made me no money at all
but I still wrote this poem for you…
